Experience "Sugaring-Off Season" During Your Stay In Furnished Apartments

A true indicator that Spring is just around the corner is "sugaring-off season".   If you're in Old Port or the Botanical Gardens during this time you will get your fill of sweetness.  The term describes the time of year that the sap is running in the maple trees and will be collected to make syrup.  In times past you would find small establishments in maple forested areas on the outskirts of major cities that specialize in producing maple syrup.  These 'sugar shacks' were the processing plants once the trees had been tapped.  The heavy smell of sweet maple would waft over the breeze carrying into town. You may smell this while staying in furnished apartments in Montreal this winter or spring.  People would venture out to buy cans of syrup for the  year.  If you would like to visit and tour one of the sites try Cabane à Pierre, in Frampton, Québec, near the Beauce region of the province, just south of Québec City. Have a meal of sinfully delicious pancakes, baked beans, ham, sausage, meat pies and omelets.  All are smothered in home made maple syrup; watch your sweet tooth !
