Bouchard Wins First Round Match In Beijing

Currently ranked number 46th in the world, Eugenie Bouchard played a tough first round match at the China Open in Beijing and defeated Magdalena Rybarikova. Bouchard, a Westmount tennis player, claimed the victory after just one hour. Her next scheduled match is against Sloane Stephens who is ranked 13th in the world. Go Eugenie!

America’s Cup Winner is Crowned

Today, Oracle Team USA pulled off what some would say is impossible by winning the 34th America’s Cup over Team New Zealand. Oracle dominated and won the last 8 races in a row to clinch the race series and solidify one of the greatest comebacks in sporting history. Each race, the teams continued learning more about their boats and were able to push the limits of sailboat racing. The newly designed 72 ft catamarans equipped with hydrofoils (that lifts the boats above the water) pushed speeds over 50 mph. Congratulations to Oracle Team USA for never giving up!

Harvest Moon Rises In Montreal

Years ago...before electricity, farmers needed to increase their workdays by harvesting their crops by the light of the moon. It was the only way they could find the extra hours needed to gather everything in time for the market. As a result of this tradition, the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox became known as the “Harvest Moon”. You can check out the spectacular Harvest Moon tonight as it rises just after sunset in Montreal. In the northern hemisphere, the autumnal equinox lands on September 22 this year. So…in a few days we can say a big hello to Autumn!
