Typhoon Hits Philippines

Typhoon Haiyan slammed in the Philippine islands with winds of up to 170 mph when it hit landfall Friday. Approximately 750,000 people were evacuated from their communities. The storm moved so fast that the nation at this point has far less damage than what was originally expected. That’s the good news! Our thoughts go out to those affected by this powerful storm. The storm name- Haiyan comes from China where the word translates to “petrel” which is the seabird.
