St. Patrick's Church was opened in 1847 and was there to serve the Irish immigrants that came to Montreal in great numbers due to the famine. The architecture and basilica are so beautiful it is breathtaking. The first mass was celebrated in 1847 and have been celebrating for the Montreal faithful ever since. The church was built in the Gothic Revival style and sits on a promontory overlooking Montreal.
